Survey Results
Posted: October 4, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentThe results are in! Thanks to everyone who filled out our survey. We got some great responses, and we’ve been using your input to inform the plan that we’re working on for the October 18th meeting.
We collected 116 survey responses. Of the people who took the survey, approximately half were parents with children at home and the other half were singles or empty nesters. The average survey respondent has lived in Woodstock for over 9 years.
We identified five priorities in the survey results. These were identified as the highest priorities for survey respondents.
LAND USE
The most popular uses in the Woodstock Town Center are:
- Restaurants/dining
- Retail services/shopping
- Arts, cultural opportunities, community events
You want to see more of these types of uses:
- Retail services/shopping
- Employment/jobs
- Parks and open spaces
- Recreational facilities
MOBILITY
Your greatest mobility concerns:
- Parking quantity
- Traffic congestion
- Non-motorized interconnectivity
- Wayfinding
PUBLIC SPACE
You want to see more open space in the form of a plaza/square/commons or greenway trails. You also want trails to be implemented as a recreational opportunity.
Your favorite cultural activities are concerts and festivals or special events, and you’d like to see some art fairs in Woodstock’s public spaces.
COMMUNITY IDENTITY
Does Downtown Woodstock have a strong identity?
- 70% said yes.
- 83% said downtown has a good aesthetic appeal.
To improve Downtown Woodstock’s identity, you thought we should use architectural controls, streetscaping, and signage/wayfinding.
